In Dr. Scheckler's biology course, students meet in a computer lab equipped with workstations that are networked together. The course uses Macromedia Authorware and Allegiant Supercard-based simulations of plant processes, video clips, and over 1500 plant science slides on videodisk. Students typically work through the course information in a tutorial format during each class period and engage in electronic discussions and debates, using Daedalus software. Course development continues under a National Sciences Foundation grant with the assistance of David Taylor of the Educational Technologies staff.
