Faculty in the Department of Music use an Allegiant Supercard-based software, developed under a Teaching/Learning grant with the assistance of Ed Schwartz from the Educational Technologies staff at Virginia Tech. The music program plays sounds of a huge array of instruments, shows photographs of the instruments, and presents information about each.Pictures of important composers are linked with biographical information and sample selections from the musical score. This program allows music appreciation to be taught in an innovative way and addresses the diverse learning styles of the 800-1000 students taking the course each year.
